Tinting Brows and Other Tips

I think we’re all pretty convinced that the best compliment a woman could get about their appearance these days has to be “Wow your brow game is so strong!” or “Brows on fleek!”. I’ve never been one to be caught up on the latest slang terms but the word fleek has exploded on social media mostly followed by an image of perfectly sculpted brows. In the last few years, the big bold brows are back and are an amazing way to frame your face and bring out your other features. If you check Instagram, you will see even women with the thinnest brows have perfected the perfectly shaped, bold and defined brow. I think this is the closest I have been to actually witnessing magic. However, giving yourself a great brow makeover doesn’t have to be unachievable. Here are my 3 tips on how to make your brow game stronger than Chris Hemsworth.     1) Less is more! The eyebrow shape and fill is a fine makeup art. It requires good product, great tools and lots of practice. The biggest thing I can say about brows is don’t go overboard! If you haven’t quite mastered extending or shaping your brows with makeup I wouldn’t recommend going all out. The worst mistake I see with eyebrows is when women (And men) go too far and wind up looking cartoonish. Makeup is meant to enhance your natural beauty, that’s what we all want to see! If you’re just starting out with filling in your brows, go with a product that can give them a pop and tame them. Something with a mascara-like wand is super easy to use. Once you get some practice with some more products you love, go nuts, but remember it’s all about bringing you best features forward not hiding them!   2) Shape your brows to your face I know we see Cara Delevigne’s to die for brows and want to replicate them exactly, but a celebrity’s brow shape may not be the best for your face shape. As eyebrows help to frame your face, you want to go with a shape that is right for your facial structure. For example, if you have a longer face go for a flatter eyebrow or else it will exaggerate the length of your face. A round face? You can play with more dramatic angles to give your face some more defined shapes.   3) Shape right! If you’re nervous about getting the shape of your eyebrows right, make sure to go to a professional. Whether its waxing, tweezing or threading they have the experience to do it properly. If you’re feeling confident to do it at home here’s a few suggestions. Firstly, make sure you take a step back every few plucks so you can get the bigger picture of what your brows look like on your face. Also make sure to get a great pair of tweezers that can get precise strays. Lastly never ice the skin! I Believe me I know it hurts but the cold will cause the pore to tighten around the follicle making it even worse. Try to do your brows right out of the shower and if the pain is too much try a numbing spray. Brows can be amazing if done properly you just have to find out what works best for your style, face shape and level of makeup expertise. Once you have that down you will be rocking brows even Kylie Jenner would envy. We do brow tinting and shaping at Ooh La Lash so we are able to help you get the brows you desire.
